Moments after chatting with a friend, a woman sunbathing in South Africa was filmed catching a cobra mid-air as it launched toward her.
The woman, seated by a lake in Robertson, Western Cape, was recorded grabbing the snake with her bare hands as it approached. However, some observant viewers of the YouTube video have exposed the stunt as a staged prank.
They noticed the shadow of a fishing rod used to reel in the snake, even though the wire was not visible on camera.
The prankster, who remains anonymous, later confessed to orchestrating the hoax to frighten his sister, who was unaware of the setup. Speaking to 'Daily Mail Australia', he explained,
“It was a prank on my sister. Yes, it was pulled using a fishing rod with a fluorocarbon line.”
“My brother and I intended to scare her, but she reacted quite differently than expected. I’ve been catching snakes along that river since I was a boy, and she would sometimes join me,” he shared. “She handled it much better than we anticipated. Very impressive!”
