The Warriors and Timberwolves haven't met this season, but memories linger from last November's back-to-back in California. Minnesota swept that series, including an infamous moment when Green put Rudy Gobert in a headlock, earning himself a five-game suspension.
Curry and Green both missed Thursday’s game against the Houston Rockets due to minor injuries Curry dealing with sore knees and Green nursing a left calf strain. Despite their absences, the Warriors managed a 99-93 win, snapping a five-game losing streak.
Jonathan Kuminga delivered a career-best 33 points, while Andrew Wiggins contributed 23 points and nine rebounds.
Kerr praised Wiggins, who played through a sore right ankle to step up in a critical moment. "He knew how important this game was and gutted it out. Ironman," Kerr said postgame.
While the Warriors have historically dominated the Rockets, they’ve struggled against the Timberwolves recently. Minnesota has won four straight against Golden State, including a sweep of last season’s series. Friday’s game provides an opportunity for the Warriors to regain their footing against a rising rival, especially if their star duo is back on the court.
