On Sunday afternoon in the United States, an individual set himself on fire in front of the Israeli embassy. The authorities have reported this incident, and the person was subsequently admitted to a local hospital after firefighters and EMS gained control over the fire. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Department stated that the person's condition is serious.
Local police and the American Secret Service are investigating the case. The Israeli embassy has been a target of continuous protests against the war in Gaza. Protests both in support of Palestine and in support of Israel have been ongoing in the United States due to the conflict in Gaza.
It's worth mentioning that the protests began after an attack by the Palestinian Islamic group Hamas on Gaza on October 7, where they killed 1,200 Israelis and captured 253 in a cross-border raid.
