American Singer Taylor Swift Crowned Personality of the Year 2023 By Time Magazine

American pop singer Taylor Swift originally from the country, adds a new distinction to her long list of successes and records. Designated by Time as the Personality of the Year 2023, Taylor Swift is the first artist to receive this title from the American magazine.

Taylor Swift, who shook the music industry with a phenomenally successful tour, was designated the Personality of the Year for 2023 by the American magazine Time on Wednesday.

"Much of what (Taylor) Swift has accomplished in 2023 is immeasurable, she has committed to giving value to the dreams, feelings, and experiences of people, especially women, who felt neglected and regularly underestimated," emphasized Sam Jacobs, the editor-in-chief of the magazine.

For the past year, the 33-year-old singer has also distinguished herself by criticizing the ticketing giant Ticketmaster for the chaos generated by the sale of tickets for her tour, "The Eras Tour" – the platform, often criticized for its monopoly position, had to explain itself before the US Congress.

"Transcending Boundaries"

Against the backdrop of the phenomenal success of her tour, the concerts were also projected in cinemas, and Taylor Swift topped the North American box office the weekend her film was released.

Time emphasizes that the performer of "Shake It Off" and "Cruel Summer," succeeding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, is "the first personality from the world of the arts to be named Person of the Year for her success as an artist."

Time's editor-in-chief notes that the distinction often goes to heads of states or industry titans, but "Taylor Swift has found a way to transcend boundaries and be a source of light."

"For having built a world of her own that makes room for so many people, for having turned her story into a global legend, for bringing joy to a society that desperately needed it, Taylor Swift is Time's Person of the Year for 2023," Sam Jacobs also wrote.

Time had published a list of finalists on Monday

Alongside Taylor Swift were Russian and Chinese leaders Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, British King Charles III, US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, as well as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Hollywood strikers, prosecutors who charged Donald Trump, and the Barbie character, at the center of the year's cinema hit.
