Know The Main Reason Behind Iraq's Wedding Fire Tragedy

The wedding celebration of bride and groom ended up in unexpected disaster on 26/11/2023 at 10:45 Pm local in wedding hall Qaraqosh, Nineveh province of northern Iraq. 

It all happened with a small spark, which led to huge fire around the ceiling, causing the disaster, leading to the death of many people including relatives, family and their loved ones. 

The incident occurred when couple started their first dance, suddenly they noticed a fire spreading over the ceiling and all the people in hall, started to panic looking at massive fire on top and rushed to the exit venue with stampede and injuries, within a few seconds the massive beam from the ceiling crushed down to the floor leaving dozens to death.

But the bride and groom survived the blaze of fire with some minor injuries, however bride lost her entire family including her uncle and three brother and the groom lost his mother, according to the report. Both were completely dead inside, shattered mentally due to their loss of loved ones and the mishap.

How Did The Fire Spread So Quickly?

According to the report, the ceiling was covered or decorated with cladding, and was constructed with highly combustible material. The fireworks or the flammable decorations were used inside the hall which came into contact with ceiling, caused the fire to spread more rapidly leading to whole hall catching the flame.

The report said that disaster has injured at least 150 people with killing more than 100 people including 27 children.

Iraq mourned the deaths of people near the village of Al-Hamdaniya. People had raised negative feedback about poor infrastructure, lack of safety standards and corruption in Iraq, which can be one of the reasons leading to such tragedies.
