Hamas Releases Third Batch of 17 Prisoners Including 14 Israelis and 3 Foreigners

"After the ongoing release of Israeli prisoners by Hamas, the total number of freed prisoners has reached approximately 240, with 63 in total."

Israeli defense forces stated on Sunday that Hamas has released the third batch, consisting of 14 Israeli prisoners and three foreign citizens, and handed them over to the International Committee of the Red Cross. Following the release of the second batch of prisoners, who were Palestinians and Hamas militants detained in Israeli prisons, tensions eased between Israel and Hamas on Sunday.

On Sunday, Hamas, the Gaza ruler, released nine children, four women, and a Russian-Israeli prisoner. This information was provided in an account given by their relatives, Israeli media, and the Family Forum for Prisoners to AFP. After the release, the total number of freed prisoners has reached approximately 240. It is worth mentioning that after sudden Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, hundreds of people were taken to Gaza as prisoners.

On Friday, thirteen Israeli prisoners were released, and on Saturday, a similar number of prisoners were also released. In return, Israel released 39 Palestinian prisoners on Friday and an additional 39 on the following day.

Hamas stated that the release of the Russian-Israeli prisoners on Sunday was not part of the Russian-Israeli ceasefire agreement. It released them in response to the efforts of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition, the Hamas group also released three Thai citizens on Sunday. Outside of this agreement, Hamas had already released fourteen Thais and one Filipino earlier.
